Communication on Developmental Progress:
Our Formative Assessment cycle includes four official moments in the year in which the school communicates with families about their children’s development and progress. These include:
- Target Setting session (September): Between the family and the teacher to set developmental goals together
- Progress report and family-teacher conference #1 (December): Teacher and family review your child’s development and progress together, and set new goals and action plans
- Student-Led Conference (February): A beautiful and profound experience in which your baby or child leads activities as you witness how they learn in school and where they are in their development in multiple areas
- Progress report #3 and family-teacher conference #2 (May): A final conversation to assess your child’s final developmental outcomes and set new goals for the next school year.
Parent Education Opportunities
We offer conferences for families in development-related topics like potty training, nutrition, emotional education and our VESS Educational Model. We publish monthly newsletters with suggested activities and books in relation to our monthly Artist, Country and Unit of Inquiry. We publish several articles a year, which you can find in our blog.
An Open Door Policy and Daily Communication
As part of our philosophy of collaboration between school and family, we practice an open door policy, ensuring that famileis have unrestricted access to their child’s day and educational journey. Whether it’s dropping in for a visit, dropping off and picking up in your classroom, scheduling a meeting with your teachers, or accessing information about your child’s progress, parents are encouraged to be actively involved and present. Our school’s communication app is used for daily communication about your child’s day, including learning activities, food intake, nap time and diaper / bathroom use.
